Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Clearwater Marine Aquarium: is a non-profit organization in Clearwater, Florida, United States. It is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured marine animals, public education, and animal-assisted therapy and research. Clearwater Marine Aquarium opened in 1972 at its current location on Clearwater Beach, a former water treatment plant (the large tanks being well-suited for rehabilitation operations). Numerous forms of marine life reside at the aquarium, some temporarily until they can be released, while others have serious injuries which do not permit their return to the wild, and thus become permanent residents.

Oregon Coast Aquarium

Oregon Coast Aquarium: is an aquarium in Newport in the US state of Oregon. Opened in 1992, the facility sits on 23 acres (9.3 ha) along Yaquina Bay near the Pacific Ocean. The aquarium was home to Keiko, the orca who starred in the movie Free Willy, from January 1996 until September 9, 1998, when he was shipped to Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. USA Today considers the Oregon Coast Aquarium world-class and Coastal Living magazine ranks the it among the top ten aquariums in North America. Newport business leaders proposed building an aquarium beginning in the early 1980s.

Birch Aquarium

Birch Aquarium: at Scripps is the public face of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Birch Aquarium at Scripps has an annual attendance of more than 410,000, including more than 45,000 school children, and features more than 5,000 animals representing 380 species. The hilltop site provides spectacular views of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography campus and the Pacific Ocean. To provide ocean science education, interpret Scripps Institution of Oceanography research, and promote ocean conservation.

Tennessee Aquarium

Tennessee Aquarium: is a non-profit public aquarium located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The River Journey building is the largest freshwater aquarium in the world. The Tennessee Aquarium's River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings are home to more than 12,000 animals including fish, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds, penguins, butterflies and more. The original River Journey facility is organized around the theme of the Story of the River, following the path of a raindrop from high in the Appalachian Mountains to the Gulf of Mexico.

Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium: located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, at Pemberton Place, is the world's largest aquarium with more than 8.5 million US gallons (32,000 m3) of marine and fresh water housing more than 120,000 animals of 500 different species. The aquarium's notable specimens include four young whale sharks, four beluga whales, eleven Bottlenose dolphins, three Great hammerhead sharks, and four manta rays. Funded mostly by a US$250 million donation from Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus, the aquarium was built on a 20-acre (8.1 ha) site north of Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta.

North Carolina Aquarium

North Carolina Aquarium: is a system of 3 public aquariums located in Kure Beach, Roanoke Island and Pine Knoll Shores. All are operated by the Aquariums Division of the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources since 1976 and are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. All three aquariums feature dive shows, live animal encounters, and feeding programs. The focus of the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, in Kure Beach, is to educate visitors about the waters of the Cape Fear region. The Aquarium was recently named among the Best Aquariums in the United States by the Travel Channel and is one of the Top Ten Attractions in North Carolina.
