Bujagali Falls

Bujagali Falls: (also spelled Budhagali) was a waterfall near Jinja in Uganda where the Nile River comes out of Lake Victoria, sometimes considered the source of the Nile. Starting November 2011, the falls have become submerged by the newly built Bujagali Dam. An acute electricity crisis is impacting the livelihoods of millions of Ugandans and threatens the country’s development. Hospitals, schools, businesses, and residences suffer daily power shortages, which have stunted Uganda’s economic growth by an estimated one percent of the country’s gross domestic product.

Hickory Nut Falls

Hickory Nut Falls: also known as Hickorynut Falls, is a waterfall located at Chimney Rock State Park in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Hickory Nut Falls flows on Fall Creek through the Hickory Nut Gorge, and is part of Chimney Rock Park, a park that was privately owned until May 2007, when the State of North Carolina completed the purchase of the park. Chimney Rock Park and the Hickory Nut Gorge are being developed into a state park. Prior to 2007, the park and the falls was owned by the Morse family, and was widely known to Southerners for over 100 years.

Havasu Falls

Havasu Falls: is a waterfall in the Grand Canyon. It is located at 36°15′18″N 112°41′52″W (1 ½ miles from Supai) and is accessed from a trail on the right side (left side when heading upstream) of the main trail. The side trail leads across a small plateau and drops into the main pool. Havasu is arguably the most famous and most visited of all the falls. The falls consist of one main chute that drops over a 120-foot (37 m) vertical cliff (due to the high mineral content of the water, the falls are ever-changing and sometimes break into two separate chutes of water) into a large pool. The falls are known for their natural pools, created by mineralization, although most of these pools were damaged.

Gullfoss Golden Falls

Gullfoss Golden Falls: is a waterfall located in the canyon of Hvítá river in southwest Iceland. Gullfoss is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. The wide Hvítá rushes southward. About a kilometer above the falls it turns sharply to the left and flows down into a wide curved three-step "staircase" and then abruptly plunges in two stages (11 m and 21 m) into a crevice 32 m (105 ft) deep. The crevice, about 20 m (60 ft) wide, and 2.5 km in length, is at right angles to the flow of the river. The average amount of water running over this waterfall is 140 m³/s in the summertime and 80 m³/s in the wintertime. The highest flood measured was 2000 m³/s.

Vernal Falls

Vernal Falls: is a 317 feet (97 m) waterfall on the Merced River just downstream of Nevada Fall in Yosemite National Park, California. Vernal Fall, as well as Nevada Fall, is clearly visible from Glacier Point. The waterfall runs all year long, although by the end of summer it is substantially reduced in volume and can split into multiple strands, rather than a single curtain of water. Yan-o-pah (little cloud) was the local name of the fall before it was namHikers will start at the Happy Isles trail head in Yosemite Valley. Travel is generally East-South-East.

Ramona Falls

Ramona Falls: is an indie rock project founded by Brent Knopf and based in Portland, Oregon. Brent Knopf was also one-third of the band Menomena. The project took shape after Menomena's recording process for their third album was delayed. Knopf embarked on the project that gave him the opportunity to work with 35 other colleagues from the Portland and New York areas. Ramona Falls is named after a waterfall located near Mt. Hood, a place where Knopf used to hike as a child. It's believed that Brent played a handful of his own material at shows around Portland, Oregon sometime in the years prior to the Ramona Falls project.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. Seljalandsfoss is a famous waterfall in Iceland dropping about 60 meters. The amazing thing about this Seljalandsfoss Waterfall is not only that you can see the amazing view from the front, but you can walk behind it. It is very picturesque and therefore its photo can be found in many books and calendars. It was a waypoint during the first leg of The Amazing Race 6. Seljalandsfoss is situated in between Selfoss and Skógafoss at the road crossing of Route 1 (the Ring Road) with the track going into Þórsmörk. This waterfall of the river Seljalandsá drops 60 metres (200 ft) over the cliffs of the former coastline.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls: or Mosi-oa-Tunya (Tokaleya Tonga: the Cloud that Thunders; note that the 'i' is silent) is a waterfall located in southern Africa on the Zambezi River between the countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe. While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is claimed to be the largest. This claim is based on a width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 metres (354 ft), forming the largest sheet of falling water in the world. The falls' maximum flow rate compares well with that of other major waterfalls (see table below).

Iguazu Falls: Iguassu Falls or Iguaçu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River on the border of Brazilian State Paraná and Argentine Province Misiones. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The Iguazu River originates near the city of Curitiba. It flows through Brazil for most of its course. Below its confluence with the San Antonio River, the Iguazu River forms the boundary between Brazil and Argentina. The name "Iguazu" comes from the Guarani or Tupi words "y" [ɨ], meaning "water", and "ûasú "[waˈsu], meaning "big".
